What we collect and why
Personal information is information about an individual that identifies them, or by which their identity can reasonably be ascertained. We collect the information needed to provide finance, insurance and related services, administer accounts, respond to enquiries, provide customer support and meet regulatory requirements.
Where possible, we collect information directly from the person it relates to. We may also receive information from sources such as credit reporting agencies, accountants, public records, company officers, service providers and financiers where relevant to an application or service.
How information may be shared
We may disclose personal information to organisations involved in providing a requested product or service, contracted service providers, credit reporting agencies, debt collection agencies, printers, insurers and financiers. Contracted parties may only use information for the purpose for which it is supplied.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or where an individual has consented. DBS does not disclose personal information to overseas recipients.
Marketing and communication
From time to time we may use personal information to tell customers about our products, services or joint promotions. You can opt out by contacting our customer service team on 07 3193 9447. We may still send information that the law requires us to provide.
Accuracy, security and access
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information accurate, complete, current and protected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Measures include restricted staff access, premises security, technology controls and physical protection of paper records.
You can request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you by calling 07 3193 9447. In some circumstances access may be restricted or an access fee may apply; if so, we will explain why.
Website use
When you visit our website, technical information such as server address, domain, visit date and pages viewed may be recorded for security, statistics and website improvement. Cookies may be used to help the website operate efficiently.
If you submit an enquiry, we use the information you provide to respond and may retain it for service and planning purposes. Email is not a fully secure form of communication; if you prefer, contact us by phone.
